It is a truth universally acknowledged that doctors make the worst patients. This is my story as a patient through a doctor’s eyes with the hope that healthcare professionals will read it, in particular young doctors and medical students, and understand exactly what being a patient is really like and how their behaviours, no matter how small can impact massively on their patients. It is also a story of my own personal battles with control and learning how and when to relinquish it.

I bought Kate's book (on Kindle) and read it in a few hours. It is poignant and very informative on a deeply honest level. The irony that she is a doctor and sees the world from the "other side of the bed" cannot be missed. It's a must read! I wish not only doctors will read this, but anyone who works in the medical or social work fields. Sometimes what seems commonplace within successful treatment programs, is not so for patients. In fact, things can be quite terrifying and more painful than you realize. For those who are not medical professionals...Yes, it has medical jargon in it. But, it is still quite readable even if you don't understand the medical language. Still, there is a glossary thoughtfully provided if you want to get the explanations in fuller detail. I didn't bother to look at the glossary as the the story was so engaging of my attention. And a lot of times, I could easily figure out what she was referring to by simply following the story. For friends and family members of those dealing with illness of any sort, it might help to see more clearly and understand what your loved one is going through while they "put on a brave face".

A very heart touching story. Well written
There was a lot of medical jargon in this book but it still didn't detract from the touching story of Kate and her courageous battle with cancer.well worth reading
